“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:37-39).

Below is a brief summary of the days of Noah as recorded in Genesis 6 and 7:

  1. Fallen angels took wives from amongst the humans and produced a mixed breed of species, the Nephilim, which were the giants or the mighty men of old. (Gen.6:1-4)
  2. There was great wickedness and evil, with man following every evil imagination of their hearts. (Gen.6:5-7)
  3. The earth was filled with corruption and violence. (Gen.6:11)
  4. All flesh had become corrupted. (Gen.6:12-13)

As in the days of Noah, we find ourselves today in the midst of great darkness. Evil is entrenched in our society while normal living of marriage, raising children, pursuing careers, wealth, security and pleasure continues.

Have you ever wondered why only Noah and his family were saved? What about Noah’s brothers and sisters and their families? The answer, I believe, is twofold. Firstly, Noah was saved because he was a righteous man. This is confirmed in the Word: “Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.” (Gen.6:9)

Secondly, the people around Noah did not believe that God would do what He told Noah. They watched Noah build a boat far away from the sea and must have thought that he was crazy warning them of a great and destructive flood. They ignored his warnings and continued their normal lives of evil and wickedness. We know how the story ended. They all perished because of their unbelief.

Today, many voices are proclaiming that we are living in the last day. Many are shouting like John the Baptist: “Repent!!! for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt.3:2). As in the days of Noah, our generation today does not believe the many voices warning of what is to come and that are calling them to repent. Many hear the warnings but turn away, calling those who warn doomsday prophets.

At present most of the restrictions imposed during the pandemic have been lifted, allowing us to revert back to our lives from before. However, we should not be deceived by this false sense of peace and safety. Satan is a liar and a deceiver. His agenda to steal, kill and destroy has not changed (John 10:10). It is the same agenda that was at work in the Garden of Eden and in the wilderness when he tempted Jesus. The Word warns us: “While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labour pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” (1Thes.5:3)

I pray that ALL reading this blog item will receive the message that destruction as described in Matthew 24 is at hand. Jesus said: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” (Matt.24:21)

So what are we to do today to prepare?

  1. Repent! Repent of all sin in your life and turn away from sin.
  2. Study the Word! Read the Bible for yourself from cover to cover. Confirm for yourself that the time of the end is at hand. Get to know the God we serve and understand His plans for your life and this generation.
  3. Work while it is day! Do what God has called you to do, what He has called all of us to do – to spread the Gospel, the Good News of salvation for all.
  4. Worship God! In spirit and in truth. Make God the centre of your life. Speak to Him. Have a personal relationship with Him. Humble yourself before Him. And walk with Him in righteousness like Noah did.

My Prayer

Father AhaYah, today we come before You and repent for our unbelief. Father: “I believe; help my unbelief.” (Mark 9:24). Father, we repent of our sin. Please forgive us our wickedness, rebellion, and our tolerance of evil. Please forgive us for compromising Your commandments in our desire to be politically correct and not offending others. Please forgive us for not loving our fellowman enough to warn them of the consequences of sin.

Thank you for Your gift of eternal life for all of us. Please instruct us and teach us in the time we have left to lead lives worthy of the price You paid for our eternal freedom.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Aman.
