“21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:21 and 36-39).
We are living in the last days. If you are not yet convinced about this, then please read the rest of Matthew 24 and the Books of Daniel and Revelation.
Verse 21 above tells us that what is to come is a situation on a scale we have never experienced before. Currently we are experiencing war (Ukraine) and we are hearing rumours of war (China / Taiwan), and rhetoric of nuclear war between Russia and NATO countries. My limited understanding of nuclear weapons is that it will cause death and destruction at a scale incomprehendible and instantaneous and therefore meet the description of the scenario described in verse 21. When this will happen, no one knows (verse 36). What we do know is that a disastrous event that could cause death and destruction at the scale of a nuclear war will happen, as it is written about in the Word and God’s Words will not return to him void (Isa.55:11). There are many scriptures in the Bible that refer to sudden devastation:
• Psalm 91 verse 6 speaks of “the destruction that wastes at noonday” • “While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labour pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” (1Thes.5:3) • “The inhabited cities will be laid waste and the land will be a desolation. So you will know that I am the Lord.” (Eze.12:20) • “When the Lord Jesus appears from heaven, He will come with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power. (2Thes1:7-9)
So, what do we do with the threat of destruction at a scale never seen before? The quick answer is that we must be spiritually ready at ALL times to meet our Master, even today. We do this when we repent of our sin and live according to His commandments. Here is further guidance from the Word:
- Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armour of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarrelling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.” (Rom.13:11-14).
- Be alert at all times. Pray so that you have the power to escape everything that is about to happen and to stand in front of the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36)
- “Therefore, put on the full armour of God so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil.” (Eph.6:13)
- “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” (2Tim.4:2)
Finally, do not allow fear to set in when you read messages like this. Rather be prepared and look ahead to that which ultimately lies before us beyond the tribulation: “But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (1Cor.2:9). Therefore, let us not store up for ourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal but store up treasures in heaven (Matt.6:19).
Let us therefore REPENT because THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND.
My Prayer
Father AhaYah, thank you that You are warning us in Your Word about a terrible time coming upon this earth that will bring an end to evil and darkness. Father thank you that You have promised to protect us during this time. Father, please help us to come in right standing with You. Thank you Lord Jesus, that by dying on the cross You paid the price for our sins. We thank you and embrace this gift of life that is available to all of us. Please forgive us our sins and wash us with Your precious Blood. We pray in the name of our Master and Savour, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Aman.
