My Truth: There is only one God.

If we understand the term “god” to mean the supreme being, then we have to accept that there can be only one God. However, today many different gods are worshipped in the nations of the world with each one claiming that their god is the true god. Common sense should tell us that this cannot be.

One of the truths I shared earlier is that we are at war - a war between satan and man that started in the Garden of Eden at the fall of Adam and Eve. In South Africa we are familiar with the concept of ‘divide and rule’. This is exactly the strategy satan is using to confuse our understanding of God and alienating us from the true God. Satan is a liar and a deceiver. By introducing different gods within different nations, causing each nation to claim that their god is the true god resulted in the nations and peoples fighting against one another instead of seeking and worshipping the true God, the supreme being who created us all.

The God I serve is the One who gave us the commandment to love Him with all our heart, soul and mind; and to love our neighbour as ourselves (Matt.22:34-40) and His Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth who is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). The God I serve is the One who was, who is and who is to come; the One who loves us so much that He offered up His Son in order to make a way for us to be cleansed from sin so that we can spend eternity with Him (John 3:16).

The God who created us is a covenant keeping God who stays faithful to His promises. Throughout His Word, recorded for us in the Bible, He has made wonderfully promises to us of love, provision, protection and more. For example, God promised Abraham that He would lead his descendants, the Israelites, out of Egypt after 400 years of slavery (Gen.15:13-14). From scripture we see that nothing is impossible for God. He parted the Red Sea which enabled the Israelites to walk over dry land in their flight from the Egyptian army (Exo.14). It is only a God who is omnipotent and all powerful who can deliver on such promises and tell the end from the beginning (Isa.46:10). Scripture tells us God allows nothing to happen unless it is first foretold to the prophets (Amos 3:7).

For example we read, “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” (Daniel 12:4). Although written about 600 years before the birth of Christ, we know that this prophecy is true because in recent years knowledge has increased exponentially giving easy access through electronic devices to the Holy Scriptures and much more to all to search out the truth. Also, many are traveling to and fro through air travel and other advances in transportation. We can therefore expect that all other prophecies about the end of the age will unfold as foretold. This can only be done by a God that is all knowing.

As such, when we see the increasing darkness and the rising of worldwide rule by fear and control under satan, we know that we are living in the last days of this current age. These are events foretold in the Books of Daniel, Matthew 24, Revelation and others. As time is running out, I pray that this message will encourage all to seek truth; as it is truth that will set us free from the grasp of the enemy. Please use the tools readily available today to research and evaluate the truths by which you live; and study the nature of the god you serve. Is it the supreme being, the all-knowing God, the God who loves you and the God who desires you to spend eternity with Him?

My Prayer

Father AhaYah thank you for creating us and sustaining all life in heaven and on earth. Father, our adversary has caused confusion among us so that we are serving many gods. Please help us to put aside pride, tradition and that which is familiar to search for the true God who created us and who loves us. We pray in the name of Jesus. Aman.
