My Truth: I am an eternal spiritual being living temporarily in a body made of flesh.

As humans we are often fearful of death. Perhaps this comes from an incorrect understanding that this life in the flesh is all that there is and therefore we should make the most of our existence now before we die. The scriptures below paint a different picture. We are eternal spiritual beings who are living temporarily in a body made of flesh. When we die, our physical, fleshly bodies perish, but our spirits continue to exist eternally.

WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS: “Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” (Gen.2:7). “The spirit of God has made me, and breath of the Almighty give me life.” (Job 33:4). "Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth …. (6) before the silver cord is snapped …. (7) and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it” (Ecc.12:1-7). “It is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God” (Romans 8:16).

WE ARE ETERNAL BEINGS: "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand." (John 10:27-28). "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him." (John 3:36). "Our body is our temporary dwelling place or tent made of flesh and will eventually perish when we die. “For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit." (2 Cor.5:1-5).

This scripture describes as well as sojourners (meaning: travellers, wayfarers, wanderers, migrants, nomads) who are residing temporarily in this kingdom.

“While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Cor.4:18).

MY PRAYER

Father AhaYah, thank you that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by Your hands (Ps.139:14) and in Your image. Thank you that we can look forward to an eternal existence with you and to the wonder you have prepared for us. We rejoice in Your Word that promises us: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (1 Cor.2:9). Thank Thee that we no longer have to fear death, because through the saving blood of Jesus and repentance of our sins we can spend our eternal existence in Your presence. Hallelujah! Aman.
