As parents we are often concerned about our children regarding the choices they make, their lifestyles and whether they will embrace the truth and accept Jesus as Saviour. We should remember that our children are greatly loved by the Most High Father. “And he (Jesus) took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them” (Mark 10:16).

Children are a gift from Yah to us. The Word states: “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them” (Ps.127:3-5). And Jesus assured us with these words: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven” (Mat.18:10).

Today I would like to share some of the beautiful promises Yah has given us concerning our children.

  1. “But thus says the LORD: “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children” (Isa.49:25)
  2. “Thus says the LORD: “Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; For your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD, and they (your children) shall come back from the land of the enemy” (Jer.31:16).
  3. “All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children” (Isa.54:13).
  4. “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from this time forth and forevermore”(Isa.59:21).
  5. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams” (Isa.44:3-4).

Brothers and Sisters, when we become burdened over our children let us remember this guidance from scripture: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Phil.4:6-7).

My Prayer

Father AhaYah, thank you for the blessing of children and the joy they bring us. Father, we are often concerned about them and fear that their life choices may steer them away from you. Thank you for the reassurance we find in the Word about Your love for them. Father, as Your Word has promised, please may our children be taught by You. Please reveal yourself to them and instruct them and teach them Your ways. Please counsel them with Your eye upon them. We pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Aman.
