“After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up; So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD, even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the LORD who does all these things” (Acts 15:16-17). It is the Father’s plan to rebuild the tabernacle of David. 1 Chronicles 16 tells us about the tabernacle David built to house the Ark of the Covenant. As followers of Christ we may wonder about the significance of the rebuilding of tabernacle of David for us. The Father’s desire to rebuild that which David established should tell us that David introduced a blueprint for worship that is pleasing to the Father. David appointed priests to minister before the Father continuously and singers and musicians to give thanks, worship and praise to the Father. The song recorded in 1 Chronicles 16 provides insight into the nature of this ministry, with the Book of Psalms being a great legacy from it. This is an extract from that song: “Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come before him! Worship the LORD in holy array; tremble before him, all the earth; yea, the world stands firm, never to be moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!” (1Chron.15:28-31). Here are a few more verses that shed light on how we should worship:

  1. “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him” (John 4:23).
  2. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Col. 3:16).
  3. I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Rom.12:1-2). Brothers and Sisters let us rejoice in this plan of the Father to rebuild the tabernacle of David and study David’s ministry to understand how we should worship the Father today.

My Prayer

Father AhaYah, thank you for Your plans of renewal, rebuilding and restoration. Thank you Father that you desire us to worship You in spirit and in truth. In the truth of knowing the fullness of who You are and in the spirit of pure, undiluted and undefiled love and devotion. Help us Father and teach us to worship You in spirit and in truth. Please guide us so that we may at all times present our bodies as a living sacrifice in thanksgiving for Your love, mercy, goodness and faithfulness. Aman.
