"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" (Heb.11:6).

Before we can work towards being overcomers, there is one fundamental issue we have to establish. Do you believe that God exists, that God is real? Much is written in the Bible about God, creation, His engagement with man, His love for us and His plans of what is to come. Do you believe all that and that God is real? We cannot see God and therefore we will only be able to answer 'Yes' to this question if we have faith. However, without faith we have a problem. Jesus said, "Unless you believe I Am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins" (John8:24).

The Apostle Paul explains faith as follows: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the men of old received divine approval. By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of Yah, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear" (Heb.11:1-3). The Word also teaches us to walk by faith and not by sight (2Cor.5:7).

So where do we get faith from and how do we grow our faith? The word tells us that each of us has been given a measure of faith (Rom.12:3). This measure of faith should enable us to see the footprint of God all around us. "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands; Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world" (Ps.19:1-4). The beauty, variety, intricacy and the order of everything all around us shout to us day and night, season to season about the existence and the majesty of Yah. If we would only take a moment to look and observe, we would stand in awe of the greatness of our God.

We grow our faith by reading and studying His Word: "So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ" (Rom.10:17). The Word not only teaches us about the commandments of Yah but also about His love and promises of provision and protection. Our faith grows as we obtain revelation of His faithfulness through the ages and the manifestation of His warnings and promises.

Brothers and Sister, if you are still struggling to accept that God is real and that He is in control then please ask Him directly for your confirmation. Our God rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

My Prayer

Father AHAYAH, thank you that you have given us proof of Your existence in the sun and moon, the stars and planets, the animals and plants, and in us. Thank you that you made us in Your image. Father for those who are still struggling to believe that You are who You say You are, please in Your love and mercy, grant them revelation through dreams and visions of You. Please open their eyes to see so that they will also embrace You, our mighty and powerful unseen God and loving Father. Aman.
