"I have the right to do anything," you say—but not everything is beneficial. I have the right to do anything — but I will not be mastered by anything….Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own, you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body" (1Cor.6:12,19 & 20).
"Put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony…Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor and drowsiness clothes them in rags" (Prov.23:2,20&21).
"Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things" (Phil.3:19).
"A discerning son heed instruction, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father" (Prov. 28:7).
"Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh" (Rom.13:14).
"They ate till they were gorged - He had given them what they craved. But before they turned from what they craved, even while the food was still in their mouths, God's anger rose against them, He put to death the sturdiest among them, cutting down the young men of Israel" (Ps.78:29-31).
Father AHAYAH when reading Your Word above, I am convicted of my sin. Please forgive me for allowing gluttony in my life. Please forgive me for all and every accassion where I have allowed lack of self-control to lead me into sin. Forgive me for all the times when I have indulged the desires of my flesh by eating more than what I needed and for craving foods that are not good for me.
Father, please help me. I no longer want to sin in this way. Please teach me self-control around food. Please give me wisdom to only eat of those things that are beneficial for me and please teach me to stop when I have had enough. Please teach me to keep my focus, attention and desires on the things from above and not on the things of the flesh and of the world. In the name of YashaYah. Aman.
