We are continuing our discussion on our daily walk with Jesus. Today I would like to focus on worship as we are instructed in Scripture to worship God. Here are a few verses encouraging us to worship God:
- "Worship the Lord you God and serve Him only" (Luke 4:8).
- "Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring and offering and come before him. Worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness" (1Chr.16:29).
- "Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker" (Ps. 95:6).
- "Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs" (Ps. 100:2).
From this last verse one might think that worship is limited to singing hymns. However, when we look at the full meaning of the word, we understand that worship means so much more. The biblical meaning of worship is to honour God, to bow down or prostrate oneself before God, acknowledging His greatness and thanking Him for his love and mercy. True worship is an act of humility on the part of the worshipper because by it you recognise and do obeyance to one greater than you. Worship is also a way of showing your love by physically expressing your adoration, that is by kneeling of bowing down, raising your arms, clapping your hands, verbally expressing your love and by singing.
We do not have to be in a church building to worship our God. We can do that on our own through prayer and song. Let us do it today. He is worthy of all our praise. Hallelujah!!!
My Prayer
Father Yahuah, we bow down in prayer before you today to worship you. Please receive these words of praise and honour as recorded in Psalm 103 as words coming from us to you; from our hearts filled with awe, wonder, praise and thanksgiving for the greatness of you and for your love and mercy to all of us. You, and only You are worthy of our worship and our praise.
"Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits; who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's". Aman.
