Our next area of focus in this series of "Walking in the commandments of Yah" is to reflect on what that looks like on a daily basis.

This is what the Apostle Paul advises us to do, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of Yah in Christ Jesus for you" (1Thes 5:16-18).

Our daily routine should be aimed at building a relationship with Jesus. A once a week encounter is not going to build the bond that is necessary between us and our maker. We pray 'Give us our daily bread' and so our daily interaction with the Father should include, prayer, repentance of sin, thanksgiving, worship and reading scripture and meditating on the Word. Through daily prayer we acknowledge Yah as our creator and our sustainer. Prayer is not just an opportunity to bring our petitions before Him, but also to reflect on and give thanks for the blessing we receive out of His hand.

If your prayer life thus far has not been good, then I pray that these verses will encourage you to following the advice of Paul to pray without ceasing:

  1. "The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth" (Ps. 145:18).
  2. "You will make your prayer to Him, and He will hear you, and you will pay your vows" (Job 22:27).
  3. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God" (Phi. 4:6).
  4. "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11.24).
  5. "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Matt. 26:41).

My Prayer

Father, please forgive us for our lack of prayer. Thank you for the assurance that you hear our prayers. Please teach us to pray and give us the unction to pray in all circumstance. Thank you for the peace we enjoy when we walk closely with you. Aman.
