We are continuing our series on walking in the commandments of Yah. For the next few days I would like to focus on the second commandment Jesus gave us in Luke 10:27. "You shall love Yahuah Elohayka with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; AND YOU NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF" (Luke10:27).
This commandment sums up the last 5 of the Ten commandments. "You shall not kill, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness against your neighbour, you shall not covet," (Exo. 20). For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself" (Gal 5:14).
Here are a few Bible verses that provide guidance on what it means to love our neighbour:
- "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" (Gal 6:2).
- "In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets" (Matt 7:12).
- "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value other above yourselves" (Phil 2:3).
- "No one should seek their own good, but the good of others" (1Cor 10:24).
- "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you" (Col 3:13).
- "Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another, for he who loves his neighbour has fulfilled the law" (Rom 13:8).
- "Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble" (1Pet 3:8).
- "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins" (1Pet 4:8).
My Prayer
Father Yahuah, we earnestly desire to walk in obedience to Your commandments. Thank you for Your Word that teaches us how to interact with others. Please expand our capacity to love and teach us to be less focused on ourselves. In Jesus' name. Aman.
