I had an exciting idea this morning and I'm inviting you to join in. How about we all capture a verse a day, one of our favourites like "the joy of the Lord is my strength" or "the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want" or perhaps a verse that we are not so familiar with. If we do this than we will have 184 verses by the end of the year stored in our memory bank or at hand to refer to quickly.
Scripture warns us that there will come a time when there will be a famine in the land, not of food (although that is prophesied too and you will be wise to prepare), but of the Word of God (Amos 8:11). This may not sound plausible today when we have the Word of God at our fingertips online and many Bibles at home. However, we live in uncertain times when things can change quickly. Even if this does not happen soon, then at least we have fed ourselves daily with the Living Word (please see my previous post).
Although I love the two verses mentioned above and get great comfort from them, my verse for the day is: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on you own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). What is yours?
